The shallow political correct lie February 2nd, 2012, Kansas City - About wrong attitudes |
Some time ago, I got an email. Now, emails, I get in fact a lot. Writers are somewhat public figures and they love to hear from people who liked their books. I am no exception. However, this one was about the website and it was somewhat different in more than one way. First sign, it came allegedly from Rose Kelleher using a gmail account. Now, Rose Kelleher is a poet, you can find her in the internet. She has her own website RamblingRose.com and she uses this domain also as her email contact. In other words, I probably got a mail from someone, who tried to pretend to be Rose Kelleher. Second thing to think about: She told me, she likes my website, especially the serial killer part, but she had a suggestion. The text for the ninth victim of John Wayen Gacy, William Carrol, should be changed to express more "respect" for the dead. Now, that's for sure politically correct. But here is the problem: As I wrote in the casefile, "This sweet little boy had already a history of stealing (at age 8), gun possession (at age 11) and a little career of pimping out homosexual teenagers to adult clients (probably from age 14 to his death at 16) when Gacy met him in the "red light" corners of male prostitution."She was upset about the part with "sweet little boy", she didn't like the sarcasm. Well, thank God, she noticed it was sarcasm. But then, that's not the end of the story. I wrote back, that I have problems to show too much respect for someone pimping out kids, in this case to homosexual Johns (because the whole case is about a homosexual serial killer in the first place). Next thing: I get another mail about my "revealing" mindset and it felt a little bit as if parts of this faked ladies foam out of her mouth was sticking to the mail. I repeated my opinion in clearer words and told her, I will not talk a rat nice. Death doesn't make someone pimping out kids a nicer person. Then she exploded, re-interpreted the whole thing as I would judge homosexuals instead of this pimp of kids and called me irrational. Fine. She also insisted, she hadn't demanded but suggested, I should change it, despite her attempts of public and emotional blackmailing. And that rats are vermin and to be "exterminated", not human beings. She found this psychologically revealing. | Honestly, why do I even write an article about this incident?
This sweet little boy ...
It happens all the time, it's no big deal, there are always people out there, trying to bully others in doing something out of a misunderstood political correct behavior. Of course, it's shallow, to lie about a pimp of kids being nice only because he ran into a worse monster and got killed in the process. I can't show the same amount of respect for a wannabe career criminal in the making than I can show for example for a prostitute, who got clean from a heroin addiction and prostituted herself to have money to raise her kid. I have respect for that and admittedly some degree of pity about her tough life. But I don't have respect for pimps. Especially not for pimps pimping out kids. End of the story. Some will understand that, some not. The world would be boring if we all would agree in all subjects. However, there are a lot of those anonymous internet-bullies out there, pretending to be someone else. Most of them are nobodies who just want to show off. Which, as a mtter of fact is the reason, I write this article in the first place. There is a wrong attitude going around and it involves two points, I hold dear:
- My Freedom of Speech
- The basic principle of communicative transparency
Now, the second one for sure is a mouthful. So lets start here. If you want something from someone, it is only polite to make clear, who you are and why you want it. And if you want him to lie, you better have some good reasons to do so. Political correctness, regardless what politicians tell us, is not an excuse for lying. And talking | this guy nice in comparison to other victims, would have been a form of lying. And if you want someone to lie, be aware, some people are not big liars and thus will probably deny your request. Especially if you failed to make transparent who you are and why wou want this. So, bottom line: If you want something, be honest, don't try to fake an identity with a gmail-account and write in a civilized way. Stomping with the feet and telling this author, he has the mindset of a serial killer is considered impolite. Because either you are wrong, then it's just the insults, a four year old kid can spill out without consequences but not an adult ... or you would be right, and then your behavior would include some inherent danger. Or as Hannibal Lecter put it: "I prefer, whenever feasible, to eat the rude". But then, dear faked Rose and all other internet bullies, rest assured, I don't like Fava beans anyway.-PB- | ... back |
