2016 - Grand Old Disaster
March 3rd, 2016, Kansas City: Thoughts after the Super-Tuesday
So, Super-Tuesday is over. As expected, the winners were Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Also as expected, everybody else, even despite harsh defeats and a most demonstrative show how much they are without a chance, declared themselves as successful. Well, I won't bother about the Democrats. Hillary will make it and if not, the superdelegates which are basically determined by the party, not the voters, will decide, she makes it anyway. Democrats just have a different understanding of democracy than other people.
So ... the more interesting subject. The GOP aka the Republicans. Trump won and the party establishment hates the idea that Donald Trump could be the candidate and, God help us all, maybe even win against Hillary Clinton. Lindsay "The Senile" predicted of course, his party is crazy and Trump is crazy and so he will lose against Clinton because "dishonest beats crazy". In another interview, Marco Rubio, till this moment a legitime candidate, discredited himself by painting himself as "the Anti-Trump". There would have been easier ways to commit political suicide, Senator Rubio!
So well, the establishment is unhappy. Now, I admit, Donald Trump is far from being my dream candidate. Only, and that is the point in democracy, we don't get always what we want. Majorities decide. And there is one virtue, that can be used to measure the ethical quality of a politician: When he is forced to step back and rally behind someone he doesn't like because the electorate has spoken. Lindsay Graham and Marco Rubio have shown, in the most disgusting way, they are sore losers without even a drop of this quality.
Now, someone will maybe accuse me to be a too conservative soul and a racist and ... fill in your list of stupid stereotypes here ... whatever! See, here is the rub. Established politicians are always afraid of grassroots. One stumbles so easily over those things while looking for the next butt to kiss to preserve the own power. On the other hand, democracy in its very nature is grassroots. Normal people go voting. The grocery employee living next door votes, the car mechanic, the single mother on welfare, the bank clerk and so do I. All very normal people. Most of us can't be bought because we are too many. Nobody can pay that. So the only way out is to manipulate us into some cozy slavery in which we don't need to think but only need to dollow the "suggestions" of our established professional politically leaders. As the exit polls on Super-Tuesday showed, Democrats prefer this kind of being led with 80% majority.
For Conservatives, it is not that easy. There is the idea of self-responsibility which prevents most of them to give up entirely on thinking.

Dishonest vs Crazy

Of course, liberal commentators on the main stream media tried to point out, there are many people without college degree out there voting, but in their infinite arrogance, they forgot also those people think. So forget those well paid CBS people for a moment, think about the Republican party here. What does that mean for the GOP? First of all, any Republican party leader can't that much of a self-centered wannabe dictator than the usual Democrat leader because conservatives in the US are far more prone to start grassroots movements. And yes, this can go till sending you the pink slip in the next election. We, conservative voters, despite all, political manipulators try to tell us, are far more immune to a Führer principle and the left loves so much.
Now Trump says, what people think. There went a lot of things wrong in the last years for America. Getting the problem of illegal immigration under control is essential. After we control our borders, a thing, every other nation in the world understands as self-evident, we can still decide how many people we want to let in legally. And most conservatives make this difference between illegally and legally. Most ... not all ... if you see the website of Ted Cruz's campaign, he doesnt. So, some million voters lost, because all together, the naturalized Americans and their children are a bigger majority maker than and ethnic minority alone. Bye bye Senator Cruz!
Conservatives not necessarily insist their candidates have balls as Sarah Palin and Carly Fiorina have proven ... but we definitively insist on them having a spine! Sometimes, it just necessary to speak up against this all white-washed political correct lying that makes our politicians so exchangeable nowadays. Trump does that. Rubio, a hard worker and still young,
has to learn that before he can be considered a serious candidate. Wait eight years, learn. For now, Bye bye Senator Rubio!
And many conservative voters have some old fashioned ideas about honor (Democrats, you can look that word up in a dictionary), honesty (see the note afore) and loyalty. See the first Amendment give you the right to speak your mind ... it doesn't include abn obligation that we have to vote for a backstabbing senile. Bye bye Senator Graham!
Here is the bottom line: A lot of people are unhappy about Donald Trump's success. A lot of us would have wished for more potentials fit for the job to chose from. Instead we got Chris Christie, Lindsay Graham, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio and Rand Paul. So, dear party establishment, you didn't deliver, so you lost. Now loyalty demands that you support the only one who can beat Hilary Clinton in November. To spend 20 or 25 millions in Anti-Trump-Ads would be the worst betrayal, the GOP ever commited on ... no, not Donald Trump ... on her voters. He won as of yet most of the primaries fair and square. To backstab him for that makes you ... well, actual good material for the Democratic Party. Hillary Clinton, the Democrat you are so willingly want to support against your own voters can explain to you how it feels, she got backstabbed good in 2008, remember?
So, dear GOP party leaders, this is the time, you have to show qualities, the qualities your voters demand from you. You may think, this is about electing a candidate and then a President. You may think, this is about a number of seats in House and Senate. And some of you may think, this is the tension test that can destroy the GOP. But here is the rub: Trump will not destroy the GOP. All that can happen now is that you destroy your political careers if you don't learn to play it by the rules! Because, we, the people (the conservative half of it), have spoken and continue to speak.
