The Trump Effect
September 2nd, Kansas City: The Donald and the Hype
We all followed the news and most of them are already focusing on the presidential campaigns. And of course, therefore on Donald Trump. Now, he makes a lot of noise, does he? But here is the point: He is maybe the worst candidate to actually do the job, but he is the one who speaks out what many feel. No political correctness, not even always logic, just pure emotion and hammering.
We have lived through the era of "political correctness". For years, "illegals" became "undocumented immigrants" while "legals" were screwed on every turn. An "undocumented immigrant" gets welfare in some Californian cities. Guess what? A legal immigrant doesn't, he has to sign, he can't apply for anything. An "undocumented immigrant" caught without insurance and drunk running his vehicle into someone else's car? That is all fine. Get caught with a beer if your are a legal immigrant, there goes your status and since you are documented, deportation is fast.
Natural born citizens and legal immigrants have especially in the manual work a hard time to find jobs. They are pricier than "undocumented immigrants". And while there are about fifty grant programs specifically based on race and even in some cases on the "undocumented" status, there is no grant program for the children of regular white taxpaying citizens and not many for legal immigrants.
So yes, there is a lot of anger. To get something, you need to be illegal and it helps to be a criminal. Because if you're legal and law-obeying, you get nothing, but what you earn is taken from you to give it to those illegal pets of the liberal bleeding hearts - And the GOP in general has too often given in into those word games. The established GOP lost the trust of those who are treated unfair in favour of illegals day by day. Trump speaks up. And that brings him up in the polls. You don't really think, one of you guys will be elected for having no backbone?
Then you better should take a look at your clientele. Conservatives in our days maybe have not much money, some of them have maybe not even a lot of education, but by Gosh, backbone they have and little to no understanding for any kind of vertebraeless political animal - in any political camp, but especially not in the own one.
There is a second thing, the GOP should think about and think hard, especially, those, who want to be the candidate: Opposite to the Democrats, conservatives are a spectrum. We have religious conservatives, fiscally conservatives, social conservatives.

The Donald

Some are extreme, some are pretty near to the otherwise abandoned center of the greater political spectrum. You want to be the candidate, you need all of them, at least to a degree. You can't just cater to one faction of conservatives. Donald Trump, as much as he is often merely hot air, demonstrates on thing to you: He listens, then he rants. But because he listens first, he knows what moves everybody in every of these factions. He doesn't specifically cater to a faction. He makes his scores where we are all involved: In the issues. If Mrs. Fiorina would repeat "I am the business person" one time less and uses this minute, she saves to tell us where is the website with all her economic math, she could bag probably another 10% in the polls, those who are conservative because they know exactly why the liberal economics doesn't work. Those who can actually do the math. Those who want to know, their candidate can do the math as well. If you play on business experience, show us your strong side, don't parrot the same content less line over and over again.
Or dear Jeb ... really? I mean, a lot you say, make sense. Now try to say it again in away that people don't need to think you are ashamed to be a Bush. Fine, your daddy and your brother have been Presidents. But you will not be elected for that nor will you be rejected for it by most conservatives. You will be elected
or not for what you are, for what you say and for the credibility you can build up. Means, you are also one who has to show us what you will do if you get the job. We have hot air balloons in politics in abundance. Don't think, you have to play one only because ... because whatever you feel.
Ted Cruz ... nice touch on that immigrant background. Alas, your parents were legals and as I said in the beginning, you get nothing for being legal in Obamerica. And you can cater for the Hispanic vote till you get blue in the face, it will not be enough. You need also the whites, which are split in religious and non-religious factions. So your only way in into both groups are issues, a wide variety of them.
Chris Christy: Well, forget it. The moment, you did your love affair with Obama you were dead for at least another dozen years. Save your money and drop out of the race.
Okay, that sounds rough. Even for my occasionally a little rough articles. But I think, it is time to speak the truth that everybody tries to avoid: The way most of the hopefuls try to sell themselves is useless. You don't tell us how you want to solve problems unless it is in very broad strokes, you bubble out political correct lines as if you were Democrats and most of all, you try to sell yourselves, not your politics, not your visions. The final reason, Trump leads and will continue to lead for a while is, he has spine, he says what he wants to do, he doesn't just sell Trump but also Trump's vision. Donald Trump doesn't need to create angry legions to support him. You do it for him as much as the Demcorats do it. But you have also to bear responsibility that the GOP has made a significant number of conservatives quasi homeless. And for those who try to pull strings in the background of the race, for example by ideas of "loyalty oaths": You have to realize, you have the same problem as your hopefuls. You are all too often vertebrae- and vision-free zone!
