Rather die than stand your ground
May 3rd, 2012 Kansas City - more strange logic
Here we go again. Florida's Stand your Ground laws are subject to hefty critizism, especially of course from the media side. It's the usual, cases, which doesn't fit the bias aren't on the front pages. Simply that.
Now, there is the case of Marissa Alexander. A pretty clear case, one should think: She was ambushed by her ex-husband in her own place. Her beat her, he tried to strangle her and she had no chance because he was 100 lbs heavier and a lot stronger. Additionally, two kids were in the house, just one floor higher. Well, and her ex-husband threatened to killer her and made moves to make this intention a reality.
But then, she made it into the garage. She had a gun in her car. Unfortunately, no additional cell phone, that was where her husband was. So, she couldn't call for help and despite the fact, that she had a restraining order against her husband, the universal defense of all weapon ban activists, it is clear, police would have come too late to prevent a tragedy.
Now, Marissa Alexander used a gun ... not to shot her husband. As a matter of fact, she fired a warning shot in the ceiling. But it was enough to scare him off. So, in the end, she was light injured and the ceiling was shot. For obvious reasons, the ceiling didn't press charges.
As in the case of George Zimmerman, the man, who shot Trayvon Martin, one can argue, this isn't a case of "Stand your Ground". Much more, it appears, as if it is a case of self-defense. And while there can be a discussion about the evidence in the case of Zimmermann, there is no discussion in this case. However, despite clear evidence, what happened, and the almost unhuman restraint, Marissa Alexander showed, when she shot her living room ceiling instead of the man who tried to kill her, the prosecution stroke. And, that is the notable point, the prosecution stroke in the form of Special Prosecutor Angela Corey.
So, who is this person? She is a woman who wants to send a woman twenty years to prison for defending the lives of herself and her children. And she is the same prosecutor who prosecuted a 12 year old as adult (look up Christian Fernandez). She is
the one fueling the racial agenda in the Trayvon Martin case. She is ... and it seems to take no end.

Angela Corey

Her history also includes being fired from the 4th Juidical Circuit in Florida as a consequence of complaints, she would be abusive against women. Under other circumstances, a personality like that would may cause one to call her "a real sweetheart", wouldn't it?
So, what do we have here? We have a prosecutor who is known for some personal agenda, a prosecutor, who is known rather for vigor than valor. A prosecutor who came under scrutiny already in the Zimmerman case, when she missed deadlines.
She had been dead wrong on other occasions. To be fired from the 4th circuit wasn't inevitable. She would had to apologize though. But instead of apologizing, she critisized in intern letters the professor of a student, who made the complaint. So, she has some history of being unprofessional as well.
After seeing all that, one has to wonder. Stand your ground is valid Florida law and it will stay so till the law makers, not the prosecutors, decide otherwise. And till that point in the future, whenever and if ever it will come at all, prosecutors are bound by the law. The repeated attempt of Special Prosecutor Angela Corey, to pull cases of self-defense on Stand your Ground law show intention. In that, she is indeed a very "special" prosecutor".
Now, here is the rub: Shooting someone in case of an attack (and provided, the evidence supports it), that is not even Stand your Ground, that is self-defense. And the right to defend ones own life in case of an attack is a basic principle of law ALL US States have. In fact ALL
civilized nations. But obviously, NOT to shoot the attacker appears to be an entirely different story. So, what, in the mind of the very special Special Prosecutor Angel Corey should Marissa Alexander have done? She had a restraining order, her ex-husband didn't care. He came anyway into her house and attacked her. She had no phone and if she would have had one, police would have been too late. Would have special Special Prosecutor prosecuted the murder on Marissa Alexander, if Alexander wouldn't have stood her ground, defended herself? Somehow I doubt it. It would be a case without much media attention and somehow I guess, Angela Corey isn't too interested in those cases. Who cares about just another woman killed by an ex against whom she had a restraining order? Not Angela Corey, obviously.
So, Floridians, here is the conclusion: If you are attacked, if someone tries to kill you DO NOT STAND YOUR GROUND ... DO NOT DEFEND YOURSELF because otherwise, if you do, the very special Special Prosecutor Angel Corey will do whatever she can to send you to prison. So, best solution, JUST DIE ...
Of course, if ever an attack would happen on Angela Corey, I somehow doubt, she will hold on to the new rules enforced by her deeds.
