The end is near - for 2011
November 1st, 2011, Kansas City - too early, like usual
We have the first of November, it's still two months till the year's end. So ... one could assume, it's too early to write already about the year's end. But then, in late December, everyone will talk about everything and everyone, depending on ideology, religious beliefs, alcohol level and a number of other factors will basically say anyway the same more or less articulated. So, lets get ahead of the rush!
2011, what comes to mind? Oh yes, the economy! It's always the economy since the end of 2008, so why shouldn't it in 2011? But then, there isn't much I could say about the economy. It's still the same. Class warfare and high corparate taxes drive companies and thus jobs out of the country and if there is a deal cut, it's more for maintaining jobs than for creating new ones. And throwing some quick millions of taxpayer's money in some new green technology companies only because the CEO and the main investor have the same party affilliation as the President didn't work out either. So nothing new in the economy, over 9% are still unemplyed with a big back log of people who already run out of benefits and therefore are not counted by the government anymore. But that's no news either. The only impressive factor is, how manages our current administration unemployment that high while all other industry nations recovered. While the US made it up from 7.6% and no back log to 9.2% and a huge back log, German made it down from 12.2% and a huge back log to 7.3% and a quickly dwindling back log. Even Greece, Italy and Spain show little better numbers in the trend than the US since January 2009. So, well, there is something impressive, but impressive obviously doesn't mean positive.
What else? Of course, 2011 was the year of doomsday. Of course, the world didn't end - yet. Reverend Harold Camping was wrong for the second time on May 21st, 2011, then he postponed to October 21st, 2011 and was wrong again. Didn't work out either, but we can be sure, he made some million bucks profit out of all the mess. And for those, who really hoped, the rapture would come, don't despair, we have the next doomsday scheduled for December 12th, 2012.
2011, what else? Oh yeah, having fun with news! Did you read Yahoo News lately? Seems, they have a lot of experts for everything who were totally surprised that something like fall would come up. Who could have guessed that in October?
And thus, there is a seasonal downturn in economical numbers, as usual. Happens every year and obviously every year as total surprise.
It blends in - Communist mob Russia against democracy, Occupy Wall Street protestors in New York protesting for jobs while destroying them.

Now, what else to say about this year? Oh yeah, the Republican campaigns for the upcoming presidential elections started. Currently, the candidates are about to do some mudslinging at each other, call each other wrong and scams. Just like it was in the Democratic campaigning before the primaries of 2008. So except for the party affiliation it's once more just the same as the last time. If there is anything new, than only the fact, that there was now some chance a 100% African-American candidate with real life experience may have a shot on the office. But some left leaning political writers work already hard on blowing up allegations about sexual harrassment in two fishy cases during his business career. Probably, there is not much behind it, but it causes a certain risk, Cain will follow the denial politics of other politicans and thus be forced to pull an Obama on us (you know, I can't tell you the truth or show you documents, other people have policies against that.... and my lawyers will see, those policies will not be changed on your bill). But what is standard for the incumbent would be considered as highly inappropriate for a Republican candidate and Cain would do good to think about the conservative voters he needs to win the primaries.
What else? Oh yeah, the Occupy-movement. Nobody including the protestors shows any urge to move anything and especially not themselves from where they are, but still, it's called a movement.
And in fact, we know, those Protestors don't like corporations, businesses and
obviously also not job creation, but we have as of yet to hear what it is, they like so much to protest for it. In fact, they don't protest for anything, they are just against something. But of course, this doesn't prevent this personified mess to become the new baby seal of the liberal press. Woe to the private land owner, who don't want some protesters camping on his property, woe to the police chief who decides to act on the rights of the property owner and even more woe to those, who call this "movement" for what it is, a bunch of union and Sotero supported left-wingers on a class warfare mission. Personally, I am not too impressed. I have seen the same kind of people and heard the same wordings in Germany in the late 90s. They got a lot of sympathy, they got their guys into the government as fourth party, and it ended up with more than 12% unemployment and the near destruction of German industry (which, oh surprise, went off to the US to create jobs there and thus contributed to Bush jr's record low unemployment of 4.6% in late 2006). But now, end of 2011, they are back in Germany and other European countries, because now the same kind of class warfare has reached the US while stopped elsewhere. You don't want jobs, be their guest!
What else is to say about 2011? The year began with some bodies on Long Island. The case appears to be cold in the meantime, but what did we expect? Some laws against illegal immigration were bogged down in courts known for their political affiliation on behalf of the government and also, Obamacare is still on the way through the legal system while the administration in a frenzy tries to discredit judges who may not vote for their signature law. Oh wait, signature sounds so bad now in connection witrh Obama. Because Obama signed not only for a war in Libya without even talking to the congress, he is also now the first US President who signs death warrants against US citizens without involvement of any other constitutional branch. So we better avoid the term "signature" in connection with him, shall we?
That's my preliminary 2011 overview. No doomsday, no change and at least till November 2012 no sign of hope in sight.
